Melba Katindi is an advocate of the high court of Kenya and the founder and Executive Director of Next Generation Lawyers – Kenya. She is the brains behind the unique work NEXTGEN Lawyers does. Katindi has extensive experience in health and human rights law having attained over 10 years combined work experience in legal practice with a focus on human rights and specialized NGO experience in applied law promoting Social Justice and Rights-based approaches.
Within the health sector, she provides legal and programmatic support to organizations working on HIV human rights and the law, TB related rights, Palliative Care, Reproductive rights in relation to Young women and Girls as well as health rights of key and affected populations in the context of HIV and TB. As a member of Kenya Medical Research Institute– Scientific and Ethics Review Committee(KEMRI-SERU), Katindi contributes her legal expertise to ensure research and training standards are maintained in Kenya; some which target Vulnerable Populations.
Her close friends and family call her Mel. During her free time, you will find her snuggled with a good book or out and about spending time with her family.

Joanne Wanjiru is a young Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and is the Assistant Coordinator of NEXTGEN Lawyers as well as the Head of Programmes. Touched by the stories of persons who go through stigma, discrimination and violence, Joanne has devoted her career to working with key and affected populations to help ensure their rights are upheld and fight stigma and discrimination.
She has been actively involved in providing legal, programming and advocacy support to organizations and legal professionals partnering with NEXTGEN including offering client representation, supporting community-based research and related advocacy efforts.
Over the years, she has developed the skill of foresight, thinking critically, and offering solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Her nickname is Comfy, and during her free time, you will find her breaking out in song, busting a move and travelling the world.

Ruth Jeritah Otido, is an accountant who has majored in Finance and NEXTGEN Lawyers Finance Assistant. Numbers, numbers and more numbers is her area of expertise at the organization. Unlike most finance people, Ruth is always smiling even when the numbers ae not adding up. She has a strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles, good organizational skills, and working knowledge of accounting software.
Most of the people who know her well call her Zelle and when she’s not working she enjoys dancing, travelling, making friends and learning new challenging things.

Kevin Odeny Okew is lawyer by profession and is in charge of field activities for NEXTGEN Lawyers. As a field officer his work entails planning and networking. His warm smile helps him relate well with our partners and clients who benefit rom our work at NEXTGEN. He is passionate about making sure the law works for people as it is meant to.

Dorah Otieno is a self-driven individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills, complimented by a background of Public Relations, Customer service and operations management and is the Administrative Officer at NEXTGEN Lawyers. She is the person behind People-centred care and our support system, making sure that every problems faced by the staff and partners is addressed and troubleshooted..
She is also known as Explorer to her close friends and family and during her free time she enjoys travelling and is an avid sports fanatic.
